Sustainability at the RDS
With social sustainability at its core, the RDS continues to play a vital role as a catalyst in the cultural, social, and economic prosperity of Ireland.
Through its Foundation Programmes, the RDS remains focused on its long-term vision for Ireland in five key areas covering the island's culture and economy - Arts, Agriculture, Enterprise and Equestrian, Science and Technology.
Underpinning our ambition will be a commitment to ensuring our facilities are even more accessible, sustainable, and fit for the future so we can continue to support our philanthropic work and deepen our impact for Ireland's tomorrow.
Environmental Impact Initiatives:
Although at an early stage of our environmental sustainability journey, we already have a number of initiatives in place across the campus:
We have a 100KW solar panel array - the power generated here is split across our Anglesea Campus.
We work with clients and catering partners to minimise the use of single use plastics during events held at the RDS.
All grass cuttings and green waste produced at the RDS is turned into compost for use around the campus. Pollinator plans are encouraged on campus.
The RDS uses an energy management system which reduces our carbon footprint and enables us to use energy more efficiently.
Our catering partner at the RDS is an accredited member of the Sustainable Restaurant Association, Food Made Good programme with the top level 3-star rating.
We have sustainable waste streams for recyclable general waste, compostable glass and food.
All of our cleaning products are all naturally based and we have updated to eco natural toiletry products in all public facilities.
We have electric vehicle charging points on our campus, and are in the process of replacing our diesel buggies with an electric fleet.
RDS Hospitality
RDS Hospitality is the onsite caterer for the RDS. They work to ensure our catering is provided in a sustainable manner.
