Society Structure
The Trustee Council is the governing body of the Society. Its role is to uphold the mission of the Society, and monitor progress in achieving its objectives. It provides leadership, strategic direction and oversees management of the Society’s activities and resources. It has a duty to ensure that the Society conducts its affairs in an ethical, legal and responsible manner, and it reports to the Members on stewardship and performance.
The Trustee Council
Membership of the Trustee Council includes the four Honorary Officers (President, Vice-President, Honorary Treasurer, Foundation Board Chairperson), three RDS Members elected by the Members, three RDS Members appointed by the Trustee Council and up to three co-optees. The Trustee Council meet 6-10 times per annum.

The Advisory Council
The role of the Advisory Council is to guide and inform strategic decision making and policy development. Its role is to ensure that stakeholders have early and ongoing transparency of Society developments and an opportunity to shape the direction of Strategy.
The Advisory Council membership includes the Honorary Officers, Chief Executive, representatives from each of the Committees related to the Society’s Foundation Programmes (Arts, Enterprise, Agriculture, Science and Equestrianism), Past-Presidents of the Society and staff representatives. All Members of the Advisory Council are elected. The Advisory Council meets at least three times annually.
