Young Event Horse

Classes

When: Where:
Tuesday, 17 August Lambertstown, Co. Meath

63. FOUR YEAR OLD YOUNG EVENT HORSE

64. FIVE YEAR OLD YOUNG EVENT HORSE

Aim

To identify high class horses bred in Ireland with the potential to become top class eventers, to create a medium for breeders and producers to display their quality young stock and to encourage breeders and trainers to produce and present the correct type of horse likely to make a top class three-day eventer.

The classes also aim to promote and act as a market base for high class young event type horses, to accentuate the significance of the event horse to the Irish sport horse industry and to recognise the value of the Irish Thoroughbred blood in the pedigrees of either.

Qualification

The RDS in conjunction with the Young Event-Horse Series (YES!) will identify young Irish horses with the potential to become international three-day event horses and worthy ambassadors of the Irish sport horse.

Riders in the five year old section are not permitted to use a completion at a Junior / Young Rider Event Horse qualifier in order to qualify.

A rider may enter a maximum of three horses per Young Event Horse qualifier category.  A rider may qualify a maximum of three horses for each Young Event Horse class for the RDS supported final at Lambertstown.

The Young Event-Horse Series events are qualifiers for an RDS supported final at Lambertstown on Tuesday 17 August, and five horses from each age group will be invited to enter the final from each of the four qualifiers.

Placings, in the event of an equality of points, will be decided using the following criteria;

  • The highest score in Phase D (Jumping / Performance)
  • The highest score in Phase A (Ridden Display)
  • The highest score in Phase E (Suitability & Potential)
  • The final criteria will be the jumping time closest (under) to the optimum time in Phase D (Jumping / Performance).

In the event that the age categories are split into two sections due to high numbers, the two highest placed horses in each section will qualify for the RDS supported final at Lambertstown.  The fifth or final horse to qualify will come from that section where the next highest placed horse is closest to the section winner - conditional on it achieving the required MAS*.
In the event of an equality of points, the horse closest (under) to the optimum time will be awarded the fifth qualifying place.

Horse / rider combinations must have completed a minimum of two YES! qualifier events before competing at the RDS supported final at Lambertstown on Tuesday 17 August.

* To qualify, horses must achieve the YES! Minimum Accepted Standard (MAS) in each phase of adjudication, regardless of their total score.

Online entry is available via the following link; https://youngeventhorseseries.ie/entries-start-lists-results on Equipe. Entries must be submitted online five working days before each qualifier by 10pm. Please note that this deadline will be strictly adhered to. All entries for the qualifiers must be made via the online Equipe entry system. Entries will not be accepted by email, phone, fax or post.

Designated Secretary, for qualifiers only, is YES! secretary.
Email: youngeventhorseseries@gmail.com

Horses eligible and entered for a Young Event Horse class may not compete in a Junior / Young Rider Event Horse qualifier at the same venue, i.e. on the same day.  They may however enter a Junior / Young Rider Event Horse qualifier at a subsequent qualifying event.  Horses may only qualify for and compete in one category at the RDS supported final at Lambertstown, and once qualified horses must remain in that category for subsequent events.
