Junk Kouture is a television fashion competition for post-primary school students, where participants design, create and model fashion, made from recycled items.

"Junk Kouture came to the RDS in 2024, when we were looking for an innovative and resourceful event venue to bring to life the Junk Kouture Dublin City Final once again as an in-person live event while also catering for our first live stream on RTÉ Player and the televised production for RTÉ2.

Working with the team at the RDS, we were supported and guided the whole way through the project. The team at the RDS were detail orientated, attentive and approachable. The use of the Main Hall showcased Junk Kouture in a new light, while the use of Industries Hall as a backstage area was so well received by our participants and production team – giving us greater scope to build on our existing show event format. With this large-scale event, the RDS team provided flexibility in early access to ensure a smooth set up and breakdown.

The team at the RDS were experienced and collaborative and showed a real understanding of the Junk Kouture mission and our strong company values – the venue was perfect for the execution of this event, and as a result we would hope to re-engage the venue for future events and would highly recommend the RDS."
