Due to this year’s exceptional circumstances, and as a service to the industry, qualifiers are being organised for the showing classes at the RDS National Equestrian Championships.
The two showing qualifiers scheduled to take place this weekend (June 19 & 20) in The Meadows Equestrian Centre and Maryville Stables have not had sufficient entries and have been cancelled. Owing to this, the respective qualifying slots scheduled to be filled this weekend will instead be consolidated with the qualifying places available at the last two qualifiers, at Galway Equestrian Centre, Athenry, Co. Galway on July 3 & 4 and Barnadown, Gorey, Co. Wexford on July 10 & 11, which will now have twice the qualifying slots available.
To support breeders and exhibitors, showing classes with the same range and depth as found at the Dublin Horse Show, were included for this year’s RDS National Equestrian Championships. Unfortunately, Covid-19 has had a significantly disruptive effect on the long-term planning for exhibitors and breeders of showing animals and consequently the depth that would typically be available across many classes is not there.
The RDS would like to apologise to all competitors affected by this late notice.
