ESB Science Blast Cancelled

Covid-19 restrictions cancel Limerick and Belfast showcase days

ESB Science Blast Cancelled

It is with great regret that due to public health concerns linked to Covid-19 / Coronavirus, that the 2020 ESB Science Blast Showcase days in Limerick (May 19-21) and Belfast (June 3-4) have been cancelled. The RDS has been monitoring this situation since January of this year and has adhered to the advice of the Government in all instances.

The RDS mission is to see Ireland thrive culturally and economically and this STEM programme is a vital way in which we realise this objective. We fully intend to undertake ESB Science Blast next year with the assistance of our title sponsors ESB and all our partners. We know that there are so many benefits from participation in ESB Science Blast. Students gain fundamental scientific inquiry skills, which also double as important life skills.

We would like to thank all the schools, teachers and students for their participation and interest this year; our partners ESB, and the many other partners that support this work; our many volunteer judges who add so much to each class experience; and our suppliers who perform a vital role in making our showcase days so memorable.

We hope you and your family stay well and safe over the coming weeks. We are already planning 2021 and hope to see you there.
