RDS Taylor Art Award

At the Railway Station, KernoffThe premier award of the RDS Student Art Awards is the RDS Taylor Art Award. Awarded annually, the Award is made possible by a bequest made by George Archibald Taylor of Dublin who died in 1854, leaving a sum of £2,000 to his trustees for “the promotion of art and industry in Ireland”.

In celebration of the 150th Anniversary of the RDS Taylor Art Award, the RDS in 2011 hosted a retrospective exhibition entitled 'Dearc 150'. This exhibition of Irish Art featured RDS Taylor Art Award winners such as Walter Osborne, Sir William Orpen, Seán Keating, Melanie le Brocquy and Louis le Brocquy alongside contemporary artists such as Eamon O'Kane and James Hanley. Curated by Dr Patrick J. Murphy, images of the exhibition are available.
