RDS Science Live for Teachers

The RDS Science Live for Teachers programme involves two annual workshops developed to provide teachers with an opportunity to hone their skills to help teach and demonstrate the science curriculum.

RDS Science Live for Teachers

Primary School Teachers - Dublin-based
Drawn from the primary school curriculum, a one-day, Dublin-based workshop is organised in association with the Centre for the Advancement of Science Teaching and Learning (CASTeL). Within the annual programme teachers are given the opportunity to undertake activities and experiments from the primary science curriculum. Open to all primary school teachers, this annual one-day symposium is free of charge and lunch will be provided. Please note that those in attendance can gain CPD credits towards the Certificate/Diploma in Education. If you think this may be for you and want to know more, please see the photogallery from previous years.

Secondary School Teachers – Limerick-based (June)
Designed specifically for secondary school teachers, a four-day residential workshop is organised in association with the Department of Chemical and Environmental Science, University of Limerick each year. This training course enables teachers to become competent in using chemical demonstrations in their everyday teaching. Participants learn new demonstration techniques and gain confidence in doing spectacular demonstrations safely. The programme in recent years has included experiments involving flaming gas bubbles, screaming jelly babies and flaming ice cubes. Please note that there is a cost associated with this residential workshop.

A comprehensive guide with notes, lesson plans and resource management is provided free of charge to all attendees of both RDS Science Live for Teachers workshops.
