In an effort to promote a better awareness of Ireland’s rich, yet neglected, scientific heritage, the RDS has published a significant number of books and conference proceedings.

In recent years an emphasis has been placed on publishing volumes specifically devoted to historical studies of Irish science and technology. The hope is that a greater focus can be given to this part of the history of science in order to encourage a greater interest both by scientists and historians.

The most recent RDS publication is the two-volume It’s Part of What We Are book which provides well-researched biographies of over 100 men and women who were born in Ireland or who have strong Irish connections and who contributed to the development of knowledge of the physical sciences over the last three centuries.

Other recent RDS Science publications include Science and Ireland – Value for Society and Science and Irish Culture - Why the History of Science Matters in Ireland.
