The Fáilte Ireland Dublin Horse Show 2010 launched
The 2010 Fáilte Ireland Dublin Horse Show, August 4 – 8, will further build and develop on the success of last year’s Show. This year sees a 3% increase in entries of horses and ponies to the Show, with representatives from all over Ireland and countries around the world. With a total prize fund in excess of €920,000 over 15 international jumping competitions, 30 national jumping competitions and 95 showing classes, the Show is continuously developing to better fit the industry’s needs. Thursday, June 24 - At the RDS today, Honorary Life Membership of the Royal Dublin Society was conferred on Dick Ahlstrom and John Oxx. Since 1981, when Honorary Life Membership was first introduced, the Society has conferred the honour on people who have made a significant contribution to Ireland and Irish life. Read More
Olympic team to test riders in Dublin
The London 2012 Olympic Games Jumping course designer, Bob Ellis, has been named as the official course designer for the forthcoming Fáilte Ireland Dublin Horse Show. He will be supported by a team of experienced international designers including top Irish course designer, Alan Wade, who has also been appointed to the 2012 Olympic Games Jumping course design team. RDS Welcomes Monty Roberts!
The RDS The RDS is delighted to announce that Monty Roberts, the world-renowned natural horseman will demonstrate his revolutionary equine training techniques at the 2010 Fáilte Ireland Dublin Horse Show. Monty Roberts will conduct an hour long demonstration on each day of the Show which takes place from the 4th to the 8th of August inclusive. The sessions will include a demonstration of Monty’s legendary JoinUp technique with a young horse that has not previously been saddled or ridden, a trailer loading session with a difficult horse that refuses to load, and ridden and non-ridden remedial sessions with problem horses. The 2010 RDS National Crafts Competition, in partnership with the Crafts Council of Ireland, has been launched. Regarded as one of the largest competitive platforms for Craft in Europe, the Competition’s 20 categories are adjudicated by an independent, international panel of judges that the RDS brings to Ireland each year. The RDS will host a new International competition for 7 & 8 year old show jumping horses at the 2010 Fáilte Ireland Dublin Horse Show. The class will be a valuable opportunity for our national riders as it gives them a chance to compete in an International competition against some of the world’s highest ranked riders. RDS Primary Science Fair
Over 3,000 primary school students representing 100 schools from all over the island of Ireland will display their projects at the RDS Primary Science Fair at the BT Young Scientist and Technology Exhibition. This year the primary school classes’ submissions consist of projects on topics including Swine Flu, Eco Classrooms, Spiders, Waterworks, Electric Motors, Lighthouses, the Weather, Wind Power and Slime.
