RDS Members in Paris...

On Saturday morning, May 29, a group of 15 RDS Members and their guests headed off to Paris to enjoy five days of opera, ballet and good companionship, all set in the most lovely city  of Paris.

On our first night there, we attended the opera, The Tales of Hoffman in the new theatre, the Opera Bastille with its modern and clean lines. On our last night in Paris, we attended the ballet, La Bayadere in the sumptuous opera house, the Garnier.Fountain in Versailles

In between those two evenings our days were spent sightseeing the famous places for which Paris is known - the magnificent treasures of the Louvre and its lovely gardens, the Tuileries; the home of Louis XIV, the Sun King at Versailles; strolling through the Luxembourg gardens; passing the flower markets and of course, sipping wine on the Seine when we dined on the Bateaux Parisiens watching the world slip by us on Sunday evening.

Being RDS Members, we simply had to visit the St. James Club on the Avenue Bugeaud on Monday evening with which the RDS has reciprocal arrangements. Once there, we sipped champagne and were given a tour of this beautiful Chateaux-hotel before all of us decided to a man (and to a woman), that we simply had to dine there that evening.

A memorable few days…, yes indeed! More of the same is promised for 2011.

See photos from the trip.
