Admittance to the Fair
For entrance to the Fair, teachers will need to bring a copy of their confirmation email sent on Tuesday March 14 2017.
Participating classes and their teachers (i.e. those showcasing their class project) have free admission to the Fair, where they will showcase their work and enjoy a day of science-themed workshops, shows and entertainment.
Directions to and Parking at the Fair
Please find clear guidelines on how to get to the venue here. We will also contact all exhibiting schools closer to the event about school buses and parking.
Entrance to the Fair for participating classes is free of charge, but many schools have expressed an interest in bringing additional classes along on the day or inviting parents to visit the Fair. Please note that bookings for groups of less than 10 people are only available on the day of the event at the venue. For additional classes interested in visiting the Fair as part of a school tour, we are now taking advance bookings. Please visit Fair Ticketing Information for more details on how to book.
Please note that all stands must be set up and ready to go by 9.30am. The exhibition hall will be open to exhibiting schools for setup of projects from 8.30am. All projects must be setup by 9.30am. All groups are asked to make every effort to ensure that their project remains on display until the Fair closes at 3pm.
Exhibition Guidelines and Stand Dimensions
Remember the Class Project Planning Framework– have you thought about each element, including your question, design & make, maths and your conclusion?
For full details of the exhibition guidelines please refer to the Terms and Conditions. The exhibition display board (dimensions are in millimetres) is plastic and schools are advised to use double sided sticky foam pads (thumb tacks and blu-tac do not work on this material.) We will provide a header board for each which will include your project title and the school's name. One electrical socket will also be available at each stand, to use this you will need to bring an extension cable and/or adaptor as necessary. Wireless internet will be available at each stand.
Please remember no live animals, insects, naked flames, fungus samples etc.!
Staffing of the Stand
A representative selection of students (maximum 5 + 1 teacher) from each exhibiting group must remain at their stand between 9.30am and 3pm. We reccomend creating a roster for your class, allowing each student time to man the stand and time to explore the rest of the exhibition. Please do not leave valuables (e.g. laptops) unattended at any time.
Entertainment at the Fair
A science-themed entertainment programme has been designed specifically for a primary-school aged audience and all participating schools, as well as visiting and the general public, will be able to avail of this on the Fair day. We have now launched the programme of events which are available to view at Fair Ticketing Information now.
Dedicated RDS Primary Science Fair Judges will be on hand and will be visiting stands between 10.00am and 12.00pm to meet with the students, learn about their projects and provide feedback. Please note that the emphasis of the Fair is on student participation and encouraging them to feel part of this unique experience. It is not a competition. For this reason, every student will receive a certificate of participation and each group will receive a special award trophy to keep as a memento. Judges feedback and the presentation of the award trophies to each group will begin at 2.30pm and will take place at each stand.
A picnic area will be available for students and there will also be some catering/tuck shops available. We do however recommend that pupils, where possible, bring their own packed lunches.
